Residents of the Kherson, Sumy and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine liberated from nationalists will receive 315 tons of food and medicine as part of humanitarian actions. This was announced on Thursday, March 3, by the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
“Over the past 24 hours, more than 52 tons of essentials, medicines and food products have been delivered to seven settlements in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions and handed over to local residents,” Mizintsev said.
He noted that on Thursday 14 humanitarian actions are being held in the settlements of Kherson, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, 315 tons of essential items, food, and medicines will be handed over to citizens.
On Thursday morning, the Russian military delivered more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the city of Volchansk and the urban-type settlement of Kazachya Lopan in the Kharkiv region. Products, essentials were handed over to the elderly, women and children.
On March 2, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the creation of a headquarters for humanitarian response to the situation in Ukraine. Its goal will be to provide humanitarian assistance to the population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, as well as in the controlled areas of Ukraine.
Since February 17, the situation in Donbass has escalated significantly due to shelling by the Ukrainian military, after which the Donetsk and Luhansk republics (DNR and LNR) turned to the Russian Federation for help.
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR, as well as treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the republics, which were ratified the next day.
On February 24, Putin announced an operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass.
As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
