Free Range Games and North Beach Games have revealed the first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moriaa game belonging to the survival genre with crafting elements. The announcement came during the Epic Games Showcase, and the title will be an Epic exclusive scheduled for release allbeginning of 2023.
Return to Moria takes place in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth, that is, after the War of the Ring ends, the elves leave and Sauron is gone. Gimli, the dwarf lord, sends an expedition team to the Mines of Moria to establish a new settlement.
Avid Tolkien fans will already realize that the timeline is different than the canon. In Tolkien’s saga, Gimli establishes a settlement in the Shimmering Caves of Rohan before expressing a desire to see the Undying Lands and meet Legolas again. Return to Moria it could take narrative liberties, in that sense.
The player’s goal, in Return to Moriawill be to build towns and villages on a procedurally generated map, all this by gathering resources, managing threats and exploring the surrounding environment. In short, this survival title set in the world of The Lord of the Rings will refer to the formula of the game Valheim developed by Iron Gate.
A unique appearance in Return to Moria it is the danger associated with any activity. You can craft and dig to your liking, but anything that causes noise could cause unwanted attention.
On the plus side, digging into the mines will lead to the discovery of the lost ruins of Dwarrowdelf, which can be restored and reused, along with precious gems and metals, and even magical artifacts that they can be used in the service of the new city under construction.
Furthermore, it will be possible to face the experiences with a maximum of eight players thanks to the co-op multiplayer capabilities of Return to Moria. To get an idea of the title, you can find the trailer for Return to Moria at the head of the claw.
