The captain of the capsized pontoon in Tsarskoe Selo has been charged. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for St. Petersburg.
A criminal case has been initiated against the man under Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of a person through negligence”). In addition, the investigation conducted searches in the office and place of residence of the general director of the company that owns the pontoon.
According to the investigation, it turned out that the capsized vessel was intended to transport four people. It did not pass inspection and was not approved for operation. In addition, the defendant also did not have a valid certificate for the right to operate a small boat.
The emergency occurred on June 6 at the Bolshoi Pond in Catherine Park in Tsarskoye Selo. Then the pontoon, which was carrying 24 people, capsized while making a U-turn. As a result, four people were injured; doctors were unable to save one woman.
