Stefano Tacconi underwent a delicate surgery that reconstructed his femoral artery: doctors are optimistic
Stefano Tacconi, a former Italian goalkeeper, he played for Juventus for almost a decade, becoming captain and winning all five UEFA club competitions of the time. He also won two championships and an Italian Cup with the Turin club. After retiring he dedicated himself to entrepreneurial activity in the restaurant sector, using the chef diploma that he obtained over the years. In 2022 he suffered cerebral ischemia, but after a rehabilitation course he was discharged in October 2023. He also briefly returned to amateur football in 2008. He has four children and is a practicing Catholic.
Stefano underwent another delicate surgery last Thursday at the Molinette hospital in Turin. The operation, duration five hours, she is described by doctors as technically successful with current good clinical outcome.

The reason for the surgery was serious arterial ischemia of the right lower limb, caused by a diffuse aorto-iliac-femoral arteriopathy. An aorto-iliac endovascular recanalization and surgical reconstruction of thefemoral artery to resolve the situation.

Despite the difficulties encountered, Tacconi faced this new obstacle with optimism and confidence. In a recent statement he announced that, despite the improvements and return to normality, his battle was not yet over. However, he continued to show determination and positivity in overcoming the challenges his health condition presented him. “They have to open me up and sort me out. But they promised me that I will be as good as new. I feel like a lion with the doctors saying that my recovery is miraculous”.

After the operation, the patient was “awake, lucid and asymptomatic”. He is currently recovering in hospital intensive care, where he will be monitored to ensure a prompt and complete recovery. His son Andrea describes him in an Instagram story as “a force of nature”.
