Rio Grande do Sul has six dams in an emergency situation, that is, at risk of failure and response actions are underway, according to information from the state government. The data is from this Sunday, 5th.
The level of emergency was recorded in the following structures: São Miguel Dam, in Bento Gonçalves; SDR Dam, in Eldorado do Sul; Saturnino de Brito Dam, in São Martinho da Serra; Arroio Barracão Dam, in Bento Gonçalves; UHE 14 de Julho, in Cotiporã and Bento Gonçalves; PPCH Salto Forqueta, in São José do Herval/Putinga.
The government monitors the situation of the structures through the Secretariat for the Environment and Infrastructure, the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) and the National System Operator (ONS).
The bulletin also listed five structures that are at alert level, which is when anomalies pose a risk to the safety of the dam, requiring measures to maintain safety conditions. They are: UHE Dona Francisca, in Nova Palma; UHE Bugres and Barragem Divisa, in Canela; Capané, in Cachoeira do Sul; B2 (São Jerônimo); and Tupi, in Taquari.
