Mexico City.- Meta works to reduce the distortion in its virtual reality images and increase the resolution of the same to a quality of human vision in its metaverse, said Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of the company in a meeting with the media.
Today’s virtual reality headsets deliver 3D visual experiences, but they still differ in many ways from what you see in the real world, and some even have lower resolution than what’s offered by laptops, televisions, or phones.
The correction of the distortion that the company seeks includes the improvement of colors and lines, as well as the resolution of the images, which is already equivalent to 20/20 of human vision, assured the CEO.
“There are challenges in virtual reality related to how our eyes and brain perceive the physical world to construct the vision of reality.
“A correct resolution in virtual reality will give a realistic sense of presence of being with a person or in a specific place. If we want to connect people, this is of the utmost importance,” Zuckerberg said in the framework of the Meta Reality Labs “Inside” meeting. the Lab”.
The technology company has also managed to expand the range of color, brightness and contrast within the virtual reality images that will be used in its metaverse.
“When you use a computer or cell phone screen you have your eyes focused on one place, with the use of virtual reality, being an immersive technology, you have a much wider range of vision similar to what we experience in the environment physical.
“Being a technology that gives a wider range of vision, it also needs more pixels than a traditional screen requires,” Zuckerberg said.
In addition, the company works on technology that ensures that the images are focused and the vision of the metaverse is comfortable for the user.
To achieve these goals, the company’s development team has designed prototypes that it plans to combine into a single device that would also be lighter, smaller and more powerful, the CEO added.
Virtual reality is the enabling technology of the metaverse, a virtual space that seeks to replicate the physical world to bring human digital connections on the internet to a close approximation to what is done in person.
The development and adoption of the metaverse in Latin America could increase the region’s Gross Domestic Product by 5 percent by 2031, according to figures from Meta. It is estimated that it will contribute 2.8 percent of world GDP.
Although the world is a decade away from seeing the metaverse fully developed, the impact that this immersive environment of digital coexistence that can be accessed with virtual reality would generate around 320 billion dollars in Latin America.
