Not an easy Friday for Carlos Sainz in Jeddah, but still closed in third position. The Spanish driver of the Ferrari he scored his best performance with medium tires, failing to progress once the Softs were fitted due to a bit of traffic encountered in his qualifying simulation.
The main problem, however, was linked to the missed long run: a contact against one of the insidious walls of the Saudi track caused him damage to the front right suspension, relegating him to the pits together with Leclerc in the last minutes of PL2.
“As we expected, these cars on the Jeddah track behave differently than in Bahrain and therefore we must continue to analyze the data to define the set-up of the car well according to the different conditions and the characteristics of the curves of this track. – said Sainz – Porpoising was a problem at one point, even if it doesn’t bother me. Like last year, it will be essential to set the strategy to understand which tire will be ideal for the race. Unfortunately we were unable to complete the long run we had planned at the end of the second session because, after I hit the barriers, we had to stay in the garage. Let’s see what the rest of the weekend has in store for us ”.
