Deputy Zavarzin: the frequency of Russian nuclear exercises may increase
The frequency of joint nuclear exercises between Russia and Belarus may increase, suggested Viktor Zavarzin, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee. He spoke about the details of the exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces of the two states in a conversation with Lenta.ru.
“There is a training program. This is a continuation. There is a plan. It is broken down into stages. There is nothing supernatural there. The exercises are difficult. Therefore, hone, hone and hone again. Of course, the highest personnel at all levels must be trained,” Zavarzin said.
In my opinion, the frequency of these exercises may increase. We are not scaring anyone, but we are saying that everything should be perfected to the last iota
On June 11, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the start of the second stage of exercises of non-strategic nuclear forces together with Belarus. During the training, issues of preparing the Armed Forces of the two countries for the combat use of non-strategic (tactical) nuclear weapons will be discussed. The defense department clarified that the exercises are being conducted to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Union State.
