The idea is, according to the state government, to “optimize the teams’ workflow and routing” of donations
The government of Rio Grande do Sul announced that, starting this Monday (May 13, 2024), a telephone number will be available to guide anyone who wants to make national donations of more than one ton to contribute to the cities affected by the floods. According to the State, the idea is “optimize team workflow and routing to regions in need”.
The vice-governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Gabriel Souza (MDB), said that the action plan follows international models to further professionalize the allocation of supplies. He coordinates the Crisis Office for the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre.
“Our request is for all solidarity to be sent through this channel, through which our teams will forward it according to the demands of each region, in a strategic and effective way to address urgent needs and provide all humanitarian support to the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul.”, said Gabriel.
According to the state government, donors must be able to transport the cargo to the final destination, which will be informed at the time of donation.
Next, a planning and intelligence sector will organize storage and shipping, with the support of volunteers to separate items and assemble kits. Donations will then be sent to the fleet operation for loading and distribution to regional centers.
For donations that include loads under one ton, the information is on the website sosenchentes.rs.gov.br.
