AMLO assures that “they acted well” in the kidnapping of 4 Americans in Tamaulipas
Mexico City.- Within the framework of the International Women’s Daythe Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodriguezhighlighted the “push” of the President for equality.
“When women from other countries ask me how these advances were achieved in Mexico, we reiterate that added to the struggle of many women, this would not be possible without the drive of a President like the one we have,” she said.
“Who is decidedly in favor of equality and trusts that we women will also accompany him to chart the course of this Country”.
Is the President himselfabounded in an act at the National Palace, who heads the transforming movement for which, he said, there will be no turning back on the progress made.
Before López Obrador and dozens of guests, including officials and governors, Rodríguez assured that Mexican society is now one of rights.
“And so, this 2023, we are going to commemorate 70 years of women’s suffrage in Mexico. We enjoy political, economic and social freedom,” she said.
“We have reached this period, times of transformation, there is a political will from our President and (…) women occupy a fundamental place, our voice is heard, we are no longer invisible.”
Rodríguez pondered the gender parity established by law and highlighted that there are more state secretaries and governors than ever (9 entities).
“And yes, for the first time in history (…) there is a joint cabinet where the main decisions are made by women,” he said.
“We moved from gender quotas to gender parity, that is, we managed to capture the principle of parity in everything in a constitutional reform,” he added.
The young people, he said, are demanding radical changes in a peaceful manner and an end to neoliberalism, which he described as a regime of privileges.
“We all have to continue working (…) and we don’t have to leave any crack through which violence against women can ignite,” she added.
The head of the SSPC made a “respectful” call to public and private organizations to help women live full and happy.
