Fast food giant McDonald's is buying all of its Israeli restaurants after the company's sales suffered due to extensive boycotts.
The issue was reported by, among others, the British Broadcasting Company BBC and news agency AFP.
The company said on Thursday that it will buy Alonyal, which has been running McDonald's restaurants in Israel for more than 30 years. As a result of the transaction, 225 restaurants located in Israel will be directly owned by McDonald's. About 5,000 employees work in restaurants.
The companies did not disclose the purchase price. The acquisition is to be completed in the next few months.
The majority of McDonald's restaurants operate under franchise agreements, where the restaurants are run by entrepreneurs.
