Thousands of neighbors gathered this Saturday in the streets of the Northwest town
Thousands of residents of Calasparra and nearby towns gathered this Saturday in the streets of the Northwest town to witness the first of the six bull runs that have been scheduled for the Rice Fair for this year 2022. The steers-bulls of The Barcial herd staged a fast and clean first running of the bulls lasting 3 minutes and 32 seconds, with a grouped herd and without launching defeats towards the young men.
As is traditional, great races were seen on Lavador and Ordoñez streets, since the cattle gave rise to the young men being able to run comfortably and quickly through these Calasparrian arteries. This Sunday, starting at 10 in the morning and through the traditional streets, the second of the running of the bulls will take place with cattle from the Daniel Ramos ranch, which will be fought in the afternoon by the right-handed José Rojo, Pedro Gallego and Diego García .
Precisely last Thursday, the honorary president of the Calasparra Bullfighting Club, Francisco García Sánchez, was in charge of offering the proclamation of this fair, one of the most deeply rooted in the regional sphere. During his speech, he defended the festival of the bulls and shared his childhood memories that forged his love of bullfighting and towards the festivals of his town.
The festivities began on Friday with the traditional ‘Chupinazo’ launched by the rock ‘La Administración’ from the town hall balcony. At night, the consecrated rocker Miguel Ríos filled the Municipal Athletics Field with a historic concert in which he recalled his greatest hits. This same stage will host the ‘Calasparra Summer Fest’ this Saturday night, while on Sunday the singer Pastora Soler will perform.
