Also called an accounts specialist to reconstruct Juventus’ financial and accounting flows in the three seasons under investigation (from 2018 to 2021) and to assess whether there have been any anomalies
There is not only the pool of magistrates of the Economy group to deal with the “Prisma” investigation launched in May 2021 and continued during the summer market with wiretapping, which are considered by the investigators the main dish of the accusation to confirm the accusatory castle. To reconstruct Juventus’ financial and accounting flows in the three seasons under investigation (from 2018 to 2021) and to assess whether there have been anomalies and discrepancies, an accounts specialist is needed and for this reason the Turin prosecutor is thinking of relying on Enrico Stasi. accountant who has already analyzed the financial statements of the Juventus club in the past.
It was the year 2006, there was an investigation for false accounting and in the register of suspects were Luciano Moggi and Antonio Giraudo, at the time general manager and CEO of the Juventus club. It was the deputy prosecutor of the Economy pool Bruno Tinti who chose Stasi to sound out the accounts of the Juventus club, but in that group of magistrates who dealt with the investigation there was also Marco Gianoglio, who is now the deputy prosecutor in the matter linked to capital gains suspicious. Fifteen years later, Stasi will return to be a consultant and still deal with Juve with Gianoglio.
The accountant will have to determine if there is an exact correspondence between what was written in the financial statements, the transactions and the inflows and outflows of money. According to the hypothesis of the prosecution, capital gains of 322 million would have been recorded, of which 282 million in an anomalous way. The crux is not the player’s value (difficult to find objective criteria on the basis of which to attribute a market value to players being traded or bought / sold) but how it was accounted for and if there was correct communication (since Juventus a listed company). The involvement of Stasi, however, could lengthen the time of the investigation: a consultancy of this type usually takes 2-3 months of work.
