The athlete Waldonilton de Andrade Reis, 43, died after suffering anaphylactic shock (allergic reaction) after, according to his family, he swallowed a bee during cycling training on the edge of Ponta Negra beach, in Manaus, Amazon region.

That day, before he had the allergic reaction, Waldoniton told people trying to help him that he had swallowed the bug during practice.

The athlete was then taken to a nearby Emergency Care Service, then sent to Delphina Aziz Hospital and Emergency Room, where an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed was available, where he was hospitalized for 21 days until he died. .
