NASA announced that it will carry out a special mission to protect planet Earth from a collision with an asteroid on Monday (26). The last test should be done this Sunday.
According to the agency, the operation will be carried out with a special aircraft called DART (Dual Asteroid Redirection Test) to show that it is possible to deflect larger celestial bodies that could cause damage to Earth in the future. The asteroid that will be attacked does not pose any risk.

“This test will show that a spacecraft can autonomously navigate to a target asteroid and intentionally collide with it to alter its motion in a way that can be measured using ground-based telescopes. The test will provide important data to help better prepare for an asteroid that could pose an impact hazard to Earth, should one be discovered,” NASA said in a statement.
The public will be able to follow the mission live this Monday (26) on the NASA website or on the agency’s social media.
