Today, Friday, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s condemnation of the Israeli incursions into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Bourita stressed that “these provocations” increase the state of tension in the region and undermine efforts to reach a calm in the Gaza Strip, and all efforts made to achieve a ceasefire, protect civilians, and contribute to the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Strip.
The Moroccan Foreign Minister said, in response to a question regarding the situation in Al-Aqsa Mosque, during a press interview following discussions he held with the Brazilian Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, that “The Kingdom of Morocco strongly condemns the Israeli authorities allowing the so-called ‘flag march’ in occupied Jerusalem. This was accompanied by the imposition of restrictions on the access of Muslim worshipers to the mosque.”
He added that Morocco strongly rejects “the intrusion of Israeli government officials and members of the Knesset into the courtyards of the mosque,” according to what was reported by the Moroccan News Agency.
The minister stated that King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Chairman of the Jerusalem Committee, “expressed strong condemnation” of such provocations more than once.
He continued that the Kingdom of Morocco “strongly rejects” the raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, and calls on the Israeli authorities to “do what is necessary to prevent the recurrence of these acts.” It also calls on the international community, especially the UN Security Council and the active powers, to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and places of Muslim worship in the city of Jerusalem.
