F1 Monaco, the report of Qualifying
Charles Leclerc master in his house. The Monegasque from Ferrari obtains the third pole position on the Monte-Carlo circuit, confirming the superiority expressed throughout the weekend both in terms of car and driving.
The Monegasque’s time – 1:10.270 – is absolutely unattainable for the competition. Maybe it would have been for Max too Verstappen, the only one competing for first place today. The Dutchman, for once, makes a mistake in the key moment by touching the wall at Sainte-Dévote, precluding the opportunity to improve on the last attempt of Q3. Leclerc, on the other hand, is perfect but has already been hurt by his Monte-Carlo in the past: therefore, he knows that the points will be won tomorrow and even here he prefers to be cautious in view of tomorrow.
For Leclerc (24 poles in F1, 250 for Ferrari) is also a golden opportunity to close the gap to Verstappen in the drivers’ standings: the gap is 48 points and if – for once – everything goes according to plan, Formula 1 could have a World Championship. The world champion is in fact sixth and must almost hope for a miracle just to aspire to the podium. Not only the Ferraris are in front of him (Carlos Sainz third at +0.248 from Leclerc) and the McLaren: the yellow and green MCL38s emerge at the right time for the occasion, having hidden for the rest of the weekend. Well done Oscar Piastri, fast all weekend and now on the front row. He will be the main opponent of Leclerc and the Ferraris, even more than that Lando Norris in great form over the last few weekends: the Briton starts in the second row behind Sainz.
Fifth George Russell, who finds the decisive shot at the last second to even overtake Verstappen. A little more in the shade than the rest of the weekend Lewis Hamilton, seventh today. The seven-time world champion precedes Yuki Tsunoda (now no longer a surprise) and the excellent Alex Albon and Pierre Gasley. Fernando Alonso eliminated in Q1 due to traffic, Sergio was once again desolate Perez, which switches off as soon as it smells spring. The Mexican will start from 18th position tomorrow.

The program
Formula 1 returns to the track tomorrow at 3pm, with Leclerc obviously being the undisputed favorite to win the Grand Prix. But the latest editions have taught how Monte-Carlo can also offer chances at a strategic level: a mistake on the wall will cost dearly.
