Brazilian leader cited priorities ahead of the G20 Presidency, such as combating hunger and reforming multilateral institutions
The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) had a conversation this Saturday (June 15, 2024) with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, right-wing and host of the G7 Summit – the group of 7 is the group of the most industrialized countries in the world.
Lula congratulated Meloni on the organization, thanked her for the solidarity shown in the face of the consequences of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul and talked about the prospect of the trip that the Italian president, Sergio Mattarela, will make to Brazil in July.
The Brazilian president invited the prime minister to also visit Brazil. She suggested that she even come with a business entourage, taking into account the large presence of companies and descendants of Italians in our country.
On the political agenda, the 2 leaders addressed food security, social development and energy transition and emphasized the deep historical ties between the two nations.
In the conversation, Meloni confirmed his presence at the G20 Summit, which will be held on November 18th and 19th, in Rio de Janeiro.
