Hockey|Herkko Koski only had time to serve as sports director for one season.
Sports director Herkko Koski will not continue in Vaasan Sport. Sport informed about it on Friday.
Koski only had time to serve in his position for one season. He started his position in May of last year. In the past, he has worked as a manager of the junior side in KalPa and Pelicans.
“I want to thank Herkko for all his contribution to Vaasa Sport. Although a year is a short time in sports, Sport’s sports operations took big development steps in the season that ended under Koske’s leadership”, CEO Jonne Kemppainen says in the announcement.
Evening News said on Thursday, that Koske’s position was at stake. There was some hand-wringing about his position, because the views on the firings were not unanimous.
The club says it will start the application process for a new sports director immediately. The task will be handled for the time being Ari-Pekka Pajuluoma.
Spor’s chairman Heikki Hiltunen assures that the previously chosen strategy will continue to be implemented, even if Koski leaves.
“I want to thank Herkko on behalf of myself and the entire board. Despite the personnel changes, Vaasan Sport will continue to implement the Omat Pojat Liigaan strategy and invest in the development of the sports side,” assures Hiltunen.
Sport made it to the first round of the playoffs last season, but lost to KalPa and didn’t get a place in the quarterfinals.
