Manchester City coach Josep Guardiola did not provide any explanations about the possibility of resting Norway striker Erling Haaland in the team’s match against Copenhagen in the Champions League.
And the British news agency (BA Media) reported that City swept the Danish team 5-0 in the first leg, as Haaland scored two goals, in a match dominated by the English team last week.
Guardiola’s team can confirm their qualification for the last 16 if they win the match that will be held at “Parken” stadium today, but with the trip that the team will travel to Liverpool in preparation for a big match next week, the Manchester City coach may try to make some changes in his squad.
Haaland started all 13 matches for his team in all competitions this season, scoring 19 goals in total.
Speaking at the press conference before the Copenhagen match, Guardiola said: “We will decide what will happen in the formation of the team, I have to talk with the players and the medical staff and then we will decide what is best for the team, and then we will see.”
“It is true that in the last 25 to 30 minutes, when the matches are difficult, we suffer from fatigue and the risk of injury increases, but recently we have been lucky to score goals in the first half or at the beginning of the second half, so we can make changes.”
He continued, “But it is not only about resting the players, but also about involving others, I like that everyone can participate in the team and play in the best possible way and reach the highest level.”
