Increase was R$5.81% compared to the previous floor, R$1,550; The price comes into effect on June 1st
The governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) sanctioned, this Friday (May 24, 2024), the new minimum wage in São Paulo. The state floor increased by 5.81%, from R$1,550 to R$1,640. The value will come into effect on June 1st.
The standard was published in the Official State Gazette this Friday (May 24) and is valid for workers who do not have a minimum defined in federal law, convention or collective bargaining agreement. Currently, they represent 70 labor categories.
Law No. 17,944/2024, which established the new floor, was approved by Alesp (Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo) on May 14th. The Bill was presented on April 30 by the governor and was processed urgently.
The increase is above the inflation recorded by IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) in the last 12 months, of 3.69%. The São Paulo Minimum Wage remains above the national minimum wage, at R$1,412.

Created in 2007, the state minimum wage allows workers from São Paulo to receive remuneration above the national minimum wage.
The values proposed by the State Government consider the conditions of labor demand and cost of living in São Paulo, incorporating specificities of the local labor market.
