Leclerc on the shields
At the end of the second free practice of the Monaco Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc managed to be the fastestat the wheel of an SF-24 that seems well suited to the winding city route of the Principality.
The result did not take the Red Bull men by surprise, given that in recent days Helmut Marko had indicated Leclerc as the main rival to fear in Monte Carlo. Verstappen and Perez finished FP2 fourth and eighth respectively, half a second and eight tenths behind the Monegasque respectively.
Marko’s analysis
“Our car is still too stiff and we haven’t used the engine’s full power yet,” he has declared Helmut Markoas told by Speedweek. The Austrian then underlined: “Charles Leclerc is still the big favourite, but we managed to improve between the two sessions. We are second fastest behind him, but we have to find a way to prevent the car from jumping like that, without losing the aerodynamic advantages.”. Marko then concluded: “Our long runs were good, but if you don’t start from the front there’s no point. If we can’t improve the car, the Max factor won’t be enough.”
