How many fines for Italian motorists… Milan and Rome are the municipalities with the richest coffers
One and a half billion euros. It is the amount collected throughout Italy by public coffers for fines. Repubblica writes this today, announcing that in first place among the most harassed municipalities is Carrodano, a small town of 464 citizens in the province of La Spezia. Here last year fines of 975 thousand euros were issued for an average of over two thousand euros each.
“Nothing to do with the 147 million in Milan which, together with Rome and Florence, occupies the top places in the ranking drawn up by Facile.it. But the Ligurian town still records a record, ranking at the top of all municipalities with less than a thousand residents”, writes Repubblica.
Behind Carrodano's sanctions there would be a single speed camera, installed five years ago after a series of accidents, one of which was fatal, along the provincial road to Levanto, Repubblica always explains. “Nothing else is included in the calculation, no fines for illegal parking or dangerous driving behavior.” Also because the municipality has only one policeman who alone is not able to regularly patrol the streets.
