The Italian car market marks a collapse, yet another in recent months, even in February: -22.6% sales of new cars in the second month of the year, a trend worse than that recorded in January. And also the car segment electric starts to waver: despite the fact that in February 2022 the market share represented by pure electric has increased by 0.4% compared to February of last year, thus rising to 2.8% of the whole market, the sales of full electric models have decreased from 3,460 to 3,175 units.
Leading the ranking of the best-selling battery models in Italy in the month of February alone thinks about it Fiat 500, which in the new generation is offered only in the full electric version: 509 examples of the small electric car of the Turin brand registered in the second month of the year, a result that allows it to excel in its power supply segment even in the cumulative of the first two months of the year. In second place is Smart Fortwo, which, however, halves its deliveries compared to February last year. Completing the podium is Tesla with the Model Y: after a month of January with just 11 registrations, the electric of the US brand conquers the lowest step of the podium in the second month of this 2022 with 223 units delivered. It is the only Tesla brand model to appear in the top 10 of the best-selling battery-powered cars in our country in February.
It must stop at the foot of the podium Volkswagen ID.3: the small electric of the German brand was sold in 152 units in February, 7 more than those of the Renault Zoe which is placed in fifth position. Compared to February 2021, in addition to Tesla Model Y there are two other new entries in the ranking of the top ten: we are talking about Audi Q4, sixth with 112 registrations, and BMW i4, seventh with 101 units sold, the same as Hyundai Kona. Peugeot 2008 and Nissan Leaf close the ranking, both under 100 registrations for a handful of specimens.
