Several European foreign ministers expressed support for the UN Security Council resolution on Gaza
The foreign ministers of some European countries expressed support for the resolution adopted by the UN Security Council with a ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip. Diplomats called on the Palestinian Hamas movement to accept the document, writes RIA News.
“I welcome the ceasefire and hostage exchange resolution adopted by the UN. This is an important step towards ending the conflict. There are no excuses here. Hamas must accept the agreement,” British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said on social media.
In turn, Belgian Foreign Minister Aja Labib called the resolution a decisive step on the path to peace. According to her, “Belgium calls for immediate compliance with the ceasefire.”
The day before, US President Joe Biden announced that Israel had submitted a new proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian radical movement Hamas. According to Biden, the proposed deal consists of three stages: the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the release of hostages from Hamas captivity, an indefinite ceasefire and the beginning of reconstruction of Gaza after the fighting.
Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya previously said that the American resolution on the truce deal in the Gaza Strip is a “pig in a poke.” Moscow has questions about this document.
