Elisabetta Gregoraci guest of Diletta Leotta at Mamma Dilettante
Elisabetta Gregoraci is the third guest of Mamma Dilettante 3, the podcast and vodcast hosted by Diletta Leotta and available on YouTube and on the main distribution platforms.
Is it possible to remain on good terms with your ex-husband? Elisabetta Gregoraci and Flavio Briatore are proof of this! Elisabetta retraces the beginnings of her love story with Flavio and remembers how important it was to have Nathan Falco’s happiness as a priority, especially during the difficult moments experienced as a couple. Between the glossy details of a dream wedding and the emotional story of the pain felt for the loss of her mother Melina, an unpublished Elisabetta talks to the microphones of “Mamma Dilettante”. Her mantra for Nathan Falco: family always saves you!
Elisabetta Gregoraci to Diletta Leotta: “I saw Briatore for the first time in a harem of girls and I didn’t know who he was”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “In the midst of a harem of girls I saw Flavio for the first time, he was grizzled, and I didn’t know who he was. I must say that I didn’t particularly like him because I didn’t know him. You shouldn’t judge people without knowing them. But you know, the models, the gold cocks, I had a bit of a strong image, far from my standards. He cleverly gets up and stands next to me. He was dressed very badly, he was full of colours: the brown jacket, the yellow trousers, a mix of colours. We start talking and I discover that he is an interesting person, very intelligent and nice. It ends with “goodbye-goodbye”, and him offering to give me a lift. We were in the same hotel but didn’t know it. He asks me to have a drink, I order a chamomile tea because I’m a teetotaler and he’s already getting weirded out. He asks me for my phone number and I leave. In the elevator she writes me this message “You are more, you are special, never change!”.
Diletta Leotta: “You still remember it now!”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “Yes, yes. He and I secretly met again in Milan, we had dinner and nothing happened. Then from there we got engaged and never left each other again.”
Elisabetta Gregoraci to Diletta Leotta on the choice of the name Nathan Falco
Diletta Leotta: “How was becoming a mother for you?”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “It was the most beautiful thing in the world, I wanted it so much. Nathan is called this because the name literally means “Gift of God”, even though Flavio and I argued a lot about the name. My son has two names, his name is Nathan Falco. He wanted a name that started with F and he wanted Falco. I didn’t like him and he didn’t like Nathan. The day before entering the hospital, I gave Flavio a list of names and suggested he choose another one that we both liked. He wanted Falco, I wanted Nathan and the strange thing is that my friends call him Nathan, Flavio’s friends call him Falco, so he has two names. At home it seems like I have two children, I call him Nathan and Flavio calls him Falco.”
Elisabetta Gregoraci tells Diletta Leotta about her marriage to Flavio Briatore: I arrived late because…”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “My wedding was very media-centric. I felt the weight of this thing, you can’t imagine how much, we’re talking about 2008: I was surrounded by 20/30 paparazzi outside my house every day! At the time it was the wedding of the year, Flavio was the golden bachelor!
“I showed up at church 35/40 minutes late”
Diletta Leotta: “They told me 50! They told me you kept: Berlusconi, Lippi, Capello, Galliani, Alonso, Simona Ventura waiting. There were two or three guests! (smiles; ed.).”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “After the great Silvio’s triumphal entry into the church, I said “he steals the show! I have to wait a moment.” I was with Jean Alesi, a former F1 driver. At the time he took me to church, showed me around. So funny! I said “I can’t come in when Silvio comes in, sorry, I’m the bride!”
Elisabetta Gregoraci to Diletta Leotta: “I made a bad impression with Simon Le Bon at my wedding…”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “Duran Duran also sang at my wedding (laughs; ed.)” […] “Then I made a bad impression with Simon Le Bon, I never told about it. We were at Annabel’s, a well-known club in London. We were all dancing in the disco together, we were having dinner with a group of people, lots of people. At a certain point a song starts and I say “well I don’t like this song, I’m going to sit down”… it was her song! Only I can make this fool of myself.”
Diletta Leotta to Elisabetta Gregoraci: “did you manage to overcome the loss of your mother?”
Elisabetta Gregoraci: “You never get over it. You get used to a huge lack, but you don’t get over it. I always wonder who knows how many things I would have done. And then my life changed after her. I have changed as a person. I’m not saying that a part of you dies but it’s like that. There are things that you face alone, you know that she is no longer there, there are things that change in your life… you no longer have your point of reference, the most sincere one, the beautiful and true one. The things she told me came from the bottom of her heart, and were for my own good. I miss her presence, our chats, I heard from her many times a day. She, like me, loved sweets very much. At night we ate chocolate together, chatted, played with names, things and cities. I had a really beautiful relationship with her. I miss everything about her. I miss him every day. It’s a huge lack, I’m honest. Then my mother was very young, she got sick when she was very young, she was 38 years old, so we had a very difficult journey with my sister. Then at 50 she left, so I lost her very young, she only lived through Nathan’s first year and didn’t even meet my grandchildren.”
