(“Zona Eleitoral” is a column of notes about this year’s general elections, produced by Reuters journalists in Brazil)
Aug 29 (Reuters) – Ciro Gomes (PDT) was the candidate who garnered the most positive mentions (51% of citations) on the networks during the debate between presidential candidates organized by a pool formed by Band TV, TV Cultura, UOL and Folha de S. Paulo, according to real-time monitoring by the Quaest institute.
The numbers signal the success of the supporting debate. Simone Tebet (MDB) comes next in the ranking of positive mentions (41%). Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) had 38%, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) had 35%, Felipe D’Ávila (Novo) had 34% and Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil), 32%.
Tebet, by the way, was the best evaluated among undecided voters interviewed by Datafolha in a qualitative survey.
ANITTA
If Lula did not have a brilliant day in the debate according to these surveys, at least he had a breath. Singer Anitta, an electoral leader with more than 60 million followers on Instagram, won the VMA award for best Latin music video in the USA. In red, he made L for Lula when giving an interview on arrival at the ceremony.
ALMOST ON THE SLAP
In the presidential candidate debate lounge –organized by a pool formed by Band TV, TV Cultura, UOL and Folha de S.Paulo–, Ricardo Salles (PL), former Minister of the Environment of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and André Janones (Avante), the biggest lulista artillery in the nets, fought and had to be contained by the security guards.
After the clash, Salles, in conversation with journalists, listed profanity to refer to Janones, but did not explain the reason for the disagreement.
CONTINUOUS PROVOCATION
Janones and Salles are a few chairs away and continue to tease each other. When Lula mentioned “passing the cattle”, Salles applauded and Janones showed him a finger.
BOLSONARO ATTACKS JOURNALIST
Bolsonaro attacked TV Cultura journalist Vera Magalhães during the debate, calling her a “shame of journalism”. The president, already condemned by the courts for making misogynistic attacks on another interviewer in the debate (Patrícia Campos Mello, from the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo) is well behind former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the share of the female electorate, according to the latest Datafolha survey –47% to 29%.
Candidate Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil) sympathized with Vera Magalhães a few responses later.
