Shot: before the crash, the Il-76 crew reported an engine fire
Before the crash of the Il-76 military transport aircraft in the Ivanovo region, its crew reported a fire in the fourth engine and blades flying out of it, which damaged the aircraft’s systems. Details of the pilots' latest report on an emergency incident on board were revealed by a source Telegram-Shot channel.
According to the publication’s interlocutor, it was the damage to communications that led to the Il-76 not reaching the airfield, otherwise the board would have been able to stay in the air on the three engines that remained in working order.
The version that the fire of one engine could lead to the destruction of other parts of the aircraft was also put forward by the honored pilot of the USSR Oleg Smirnov in a conversation with Lenta.ru. According to him, blades ejected at high speed can cause damage to fuel and electronic communications.
