It should be noted that data published by the WSJ suggests that the number of births reported in each country’s records often turns out to be between 10 and 20 percent lower than projections made by the United Nations.
To take examples, China reported 9 million births last year, 16 percent less than projected by the UN, while the United States indicated that 3.59 million births occurred, 4 percent less than expected.
Other important figures are, for example, those of Egypt, which had 17 percent fewer births, and Kenya, with 18 percent fewer than what was recorded in 2022.

For its part, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington says that this peak will reach around the year 2061 with only 9.5 billion before beginning to fall.
