Immediately after his release, the serial eater ate at three restaurants in the capital region and left without paying.
Ordered a man born in 1969 who repeatedly failed to pay for restaurant food could not get his sentence changed in the Helsinki Court of Appeal.
Last July, the Helsinki district court found the man guilty of fraud.
The man had eaten three days at the turn of May and June at Sello’s Chicos in Espoo, Ravintola Vltava in Helsinki and Siipiravintola Hook. And left them without paying.
For example, on May 30, the convict had ordered food and drink at Restaurant Chicos Sello in Espoo and enjoyed the food he ordered. However, he left the bill unpaid. According to the court, this way he acquired an unjustified benefit of 99.20 euros.
In total, the man ate in restaurants without paying more than 270 euros.
District court sentenced a total of 60 days of unconditional imprisonment for three acts of the same type. The aggravating factor was applied in the sentence, because the defendant has often committed similar acts and the latest acts immediately after his release. According to the district court, the repeated actions manifest “obvious disregard for the prohibitions and orders of the law”.
The Helsinki Court of Appeal did not grant leave to appeal the decision, so the district court’s decision remains in effect.
