Phrase “Holocaust Never Again” is displayed on Holocaust Remembrance Day; the initiative is from Conib, with institutional support from the Legislature
The Towers of National Congress were illuminated with the phrase “Holocaust Never Again” this Sunday (May 5), Holocaust Remembrance Day. The initiative is from Conib (Israeli Confederation of Brazil), with institutional support from the Legislature.
The action is in memory of the 6 million Jews and thousands of other minorities exterminated by the Nazis during the Second World War (1939-1945). The day, known as Yom Hashoá (Holocaust Remembrance Day, in Portuguese), is a time to honor the resistance of those who rebelled in occupied European cities and concentration camps, and to honor the memory of so many victims.
On this day, in Israel, the alarm sirens sound and 2 minutes of silence are observed, reaffirming the commitment to “remember and remember. Never forget.”
In São Paulo there was also an event to remember the date, the Fisep (Israeli Federation of the State of São Paulo) held in A Hebraica club the “Act of Yom Hashoá”, which was attended by Holocaust survivors. On the occasion, tribute was also paid to the victims of the October 7th attack with the symbolic lighting of 7 candles (one more than is traditionally done).
