The plenary session of Congress of Peru rejected this Friday to admit three vacancy motions (dismissal) for processing that opposition legislators had presented, mostly from left-wing political groups, against the President Dina Boluarte.
The decision was made during the first part of the plenary session, a day after the motions were presented, in each case, by the Marxist Peru Libre party, the leftist group of Democratic Change-Together for Peru and the legislator of that Alfredo Pariona trend.
The three motions, which were rejected by a simple majority and sent to the archive, They requested the dismissal of Boluarte due to an alleged moral incapacity to exercise the head of state and demanded that he offer explanations for the latest complaints that have been made against him, which are also being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office.

That document presented several arguments to explain why Boluarte would have incurred the cause of “permanent moral incapacity”, as a alleged “abandonment of office”, which a journalistic complaint indicated that he did for 12 days between the end of June and the beginning of July 2023 to undergo supposed cosmetic procedures.
It also included his alleged involvement in the tax investigation against one of his brothers, Nicanor Boluarte, by deactivating a police team that supported a prosecutorial group that specifically pursues corruption crimes committed by high-ranking public officials one day before their preliminary arrest.
The police are investigating Boluarte for an alleged case of influence peddling.

“For some time now, Dina Boluarte has shown that she does not have a logical consideration of what it means to be president of the Republic. She has not known how to differentiate between her public and private spheres,” said right-wing congressman Carlos Anderson, who also signed the motion.
Given the announcement of the dismissal requests that were being prepared against him, Boluarte stated last Tuesday that he will govern until July 28, 2026, when his mandate must end, and asked that they stop “orchestrating situations that are not conducive to the development of the country.”

“Here we are firm, strong and dignified, nothing is going to distract us from continuing to advance in the development of our beloved Peru. We are going to continue walking until July 28, 2026 because this is how the people chose a presidential formula and in accordance with the Constitution that must be respected,” he emphasized.
The ruler faces a legal and political crisis as a result of the tax investigations opened against her, for alleged corruption and genocide, among other charges, and a criticized government management that has generated an 88% unpopularity.
In recent weeks, she has been denounced for wearing expensive jewelry supposedly lent by a wealthy regional governor, while her Government faces an economic crisis that it has not yet managed to alleviate, as well as an increase in citizen insecurity that is highly criticized by citizens. .

Santibañez, who was vice minister of Internal Order, replaced retired Police General Walter Ortiz, who resigned after the Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation for allegedly obstructing Justice before the arrest of Nicanor Boluarte, the president’s brother. .
Ortiz generated great controversy last week by ordering the deactivation of the police group that supported the Special Team of Prosecutors Against Corruption in Power (Eficcop), which investigates these crimes committed by high public officials.
This measure occurred one day before the arrest of Boluarte’s brother and the president’s lawyer, Mateo Castañeda, who are being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office for the alleged commission of crimes such as influence peddling and criminal organization.
