China: 600-year-old statues appear due to the drought of a river

The Asian country is suffering one of the strongest heat waves in the last six decades.

Recently, the Yangtze River in China was the site of an unexpected appearance. Due to the droughts caused by the strong heat wave in that country, they emerged three buddhist statues that appear to be at least 600 years old and that were hidden by water.

According to CNN, one of the statues represents a monk sitting on a lotus pedestal, something as striking as it is important for the history of the Chinese.

The Ministry of Water Resources said in a statement on Wednesday that the drought in the entire Yangtze River Basin is “adversely affecting the drinking water safety of rural people and livestock, and the growth of crops.”

And it is that China has begun to intensify the use of artificial rains to deal with the unprecedented drought that is affecting several areas in the center of the country.

Meteorological departments in Hubei (centre) and Hunan (centre) provinces are using their “cloud chasers” to cause rain with rockets that pour condensing substances such as silver iodide into the clouds, accelerating precipitation.
