It seems that the new Call of Duty for this year it could launch as early as October. Multiple insiders have pointed out that the sequel to Modern Warfare would be officially revealed during the summer of 2022, and apparently, Activision wants to advance its launch due to the poor sales it had Call of Duty: Vanguard.
In accordance with Tom Henderson, there is a high possibility that Activision and Infinity Ward reveal Modern Warfare 2 at some point this summer. The really important thing is that Modern Warfare 2 would be released in October 2022. Henderson states that this is mainly due to poor sales of Vanguard.
As expected, it’s looking like this year’s Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare II (2022), will be revealed in the summer.

Another reliable leaker also corroborated the information from Henderson:

Vanguard It had very good sales during its launch month, but in the same way, it is reported that it sold up to 40% fewer units than past installments of the franchise. It’s certainly not a very good number, especially for a series that depends so much on its initial sales.
editor’s note: I wouldn’t be surprised if Activision comes up with a new strategy for annual Call of Duty releases. At this point, it seems that people are getting tired of the series again, and they will have to do something about it if they expect gamers to keep buying these titles year after year.
