Between 3 and 6 January, formateur Mark Rutte will talk to the intended ministers. They will be sworn in on January 10. Those involved previously reported NRC that Sigrid Kaag may become Hoekstra’s successor. In that case, she would be the first female finance minister. Hoekstra has been named as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
D66 also supplies the ministers of Education, Defense and Health, the department that is now led by CDA minister Hugo de Jonge. He may be given a different portfolio in a new cabinet. Justice and Security, Economic Affairs and Infrastructure go to the VVD. The ChristenUnie once again supplies the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, but that is probably not Carola Schouten. Insiders sign up NRC that Schouten may become the new minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions.
The name that is circulating as the new Minister of Health is that of Ernst Kuipers (D66), chairman of the National Network Acute Care. Maarten van Ooijen (ChristenUnie) was to become State Secretary for Youth and Prevention.
