A three-year-old boy was riding a toy tractor when he fell into a river. Doctors declared him brain dead a short time later.
Salt Lake City – The tragedy occurred on Tuesday (May 21). Little Levi (3) fell into a river in Beaver County with his toy tractor and was swept away. The parents could not find their child in the waist-deep water. The three-year-old was only later rescued from the stream. It is unclear how long he was under water.
Another case from Italy also caused a stir recently. A small child died there from injurieswhich had been inflicted on him by fighting dogs.
Three-year-old falls into river and is swept away – doctors have already given up on him
On their FacebookHis mother kept interested people up to date on Levi’s health on her social media account – his father is the well-known rodeo rider Spencer Wright. There she thanked the first responders in particular, who apparently spent almost an hour resuscitating the boy. Levi was taken to hospital as quickly as possible on Tuesday, and a short time later a helicopter flew him to the Children’s Hospital Salt Lake City.
After a short time, the doctors declared that nothing more could be done for the three-year-old; the boy was brain dead. However, one doctor gave the family hope, which is why the life support machines were not yet turned off. A little later, the mother came back with news: “Levi has woken up. I’m still shaking. We don’t know much yet, but they said that I can see that as a good sign. My baby is so strong.” Nevertheless, the boy had to be sedated.
Boy (3) wakes up despite being brain dead – mother with emotional message
As Levi’s mother announced shortly after he woke up, there should be no false impression about the boy’s condition: “The fact that he woke up does not mean that he spoke or was receptive. He just opened his eyes for a short time and moved a little. We still had the feeling that he could hear us.” A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan should provide information about his actual state of health.
Levi’s mother wrote the sobering news after the MRI: “The MRI was not good, we are devastated. There are a few pictures that suggest a certain quality of life. We just have to wait and see how Levi develops in the next few days, I am not giving up on my baby yet. I hope that a doctor can tell me something positive.” In another incident, a small child died in Germany: A Two-year-old girl drowned last year in a river. (rd)
