US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Russia and its authorities would pay for a long time in the event of a full-scale “invasion” of Ukraine. He spoke about this in broadcast NBC news.
Blinken noted that Washington is doing everything possible to contain Russia. He stressed that if this does not deter Moscow from “further aggression” in Ukraine, then there will be a very quick and tough response. So, according to him, this will be a price that Russia will pay for a long time.
In addition, the Secretary of State stressed that in the situation around Ukraine, diplomacy has succeeded in uniting the world and confronting Russian “aggression”. At the same time, he said that if Russia goes for a full-scale “invasion of Ukraine beyond what it is already doing, then Washington will also escalate. The diplomat expressed hope that this information could still act as a deterrent for Moscow.

In the course of the interview, Blinken also predicted that before Thursday morning, February 24, Russian troops would launch something like a full-scale “invasion” of Ukraine. Blinken answered in the affirmative to the journalist’s question about whether he had reason to believe that before the end of the night Moscow would begin an “invasion” of the neighboring country.
Over the past few months, Kiev and Western countries have been accusing Russia of pulling troops to the borders of Ukraine and preparing a military offensive. Moscow has repeatedly denied the existence of such aggressive plans. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, NATO’s statements about the impending “invasion” are alarmist.
On February 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the situation on the line of contact in the Donbass was escalated to the maximum. “Any spark, any unplanned incident or any small planned provocation can lead to irreparable consequences,” he warned. Peskov also stressed that against such a background, the dates announced in the West about the alleged “invasion” of Russia in Ukraine threaten with bad consequences.
