Dexeus received numerous recognitions throughout his career, such as the Grand Cross of the Civil Order of Health, the Gold Medal for Merit at Work and the Creu de Sant Jordi of the Generalitat. In the field of teaching, he was a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a speaker at the Faculty of Medicine of Chicago (United States), among others. Before, in addition to Barcelona and Madrid, he had trained in Manchester (United Kingdom), Switzerland, Paris (France) and Florence (Italy). He obtained the Chair of Research in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, of which he was director until 2008. The gynecologist had a bitter breakup when he was expelled from the Dexeus clinic by the rest of the partners in 2008 and was forced into retirement. A situation that caused an unpleasant incident when, when preparing to park his car at the hospital that bears his family's name, he found that he could not pass or enter his office. He was later sentenced to pay more than 800,000 euros to his former clinic for statements that the ruling considered “denigrating” and unfair competition. Finally, after years of legal battle, the Supreme Court confirmed the acquittal that the Barcelona Court had issued and she practiced her profession with a consultation at the Tres Torres Clinic in Barcelona and, later, helped found the Women's center, with doctors Damián Dexeus and Francisco Carmona. The center was the one who announced his death this Friday.
