A Russian air strike hit a maternity hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine, on Wednesday (9). At least 17 people were injured, Kiev officials said.
“Russian troops direct attack on the maternity hospital. There are people, children under the rubble. Atrocity! How much longer will the world be complicit in ignoring this terror? Close airspace now,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Twitter. “Stop the killings. They have the power, but they seem to have lost their humanity.”
“In the city center, hospital, maternity and care ward, all this was destroyed in a Russian airstrike on Mariupol. Just now. The Russian pilot, who probably doesn’t hesitate to call himself a man, pressed the button again, knowing exactly where the bomb would fly,” said the head of the regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko.
He accused Russian forces of having “crossed over the border of inadmissible relations between states and peoples” and of having “crossed the boundary of humanity”.
