A ‘mysterious’ shark caught in Florida. The images of the ‘creature’ captured by two fishermen become the subject of discussion and end up under the spotlight of the FWC Fish and Wildlife Research Institute. The scholars observe the animal, a bull shark later released into the wild, and notice obvious anomalies. “The shark” caught in the waters of the Indian River in the Titusville area not far from the Atlantic “appears to have a form of scoliosis or a spinal deformity that affects the spine.
Although the condition is rare, our team has highlighted similar abnormalities in other sharks and other fish species. This shark, in particular, was successfully released”, we read in the post which also published the x-rays to which other specimens were subjected.
“It took us an hour to get it out,” says Brian Tittle, who captured the creature with his son. “We’ve been fishing all our lives – he adds to the Miami Herald -. As soon as we saw him, we knew something was wrong”.
