The National Space Academy, one of the projects of the Emirates Space Agency, launched its second training course for the current year, which specializes in applied space systems engineering, through an innovative, specialized educational platform in cooperation with the “EDGE” group and the “Beacon Red” company.
The National Space Academy aims to develop and improve the skills of young Emirati cadres in space science and technology by providing them with skills and knowledge in accordance with the highest international standards and practices, so that they will be influential contributors to enhancing the great success of the UAE space program.
The Academy stated that the new training course provides valuable educational opportunities for a large number of Emirati cadres nominated from five different space-related entities, during which participants, through a series of theoretical and practical workshops that continue over a period of 10 weeks, acquire in-depth knowledge of space theory and learn applied skills. On the ground, which is related to the design, development, implementation, and management of space systems and projects, pointing out that it seeks to provide a comprehensive educational experience through a series of workshops that focus on the difficult space environment, and understanding its basics, through lectures, discussion and interactive sessions, and practical exploration experiences. In addition to a practical study of space devices and careful planning of space mission scenarios, this includes a wide range of in-depth knowledge in the engineering and design of space vehicles and missions, while enhancing teamwork and experience through simulating space missions.
The training program enhances the knowledge gained through a series of academic workshops, in addition to practical exercises by experts in the field of space.
The intensive program also serves as a link to accelerate the link between academic knowledge and practical experience accompanying the development of space projects.
The program is specifically designed to accelerate the transfer of knowledge and application of aerospace engineering skills.
The UAE Space Agency directs its educational and training efforts to target individuals interested in participating in space workshops, with the aim of training them and developing their skills within multiple fields and specializations of knowledge, in a way that matches the requirements and skills necessary to implement national space projects.
The academy aims to achieve sustainability in the space sector in the Emirates, by developing and enhancing the skills of Emirati cadres, and enabling them to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the national space sector, in addition to providing a unique model in transforming theoretical knowledge into practical experiences, to serve as a bridge that qualifies graduates in Effective contribution to the national space sector.
3 stages
The National Space Academy, which launched its first training courses in the first quarter of this year, stated that its launch is the result of the great success achieved by the space workshops, which included three successive phases that began in January 2023, where the first phase was completed with the participation of 51 people, moving on. 26 of them advance to the second stage, which concludes with the participation of 13 individuals in the third and final stage.
The graduates of the workshops, after undergoing a series of performance evaluations and interviews, participated in a three-month space mission, which allowed them to cooperate and contribute effectively to specific tasks and operations, and gain significant experience, in addition to enabling them to delve deeper into the chosen specializations by implementing research projects in their specializations within The National Space Academy, under the supervision and guidance of an elite group of specialists in the field of space studies.
The academy is part of the transformational projects launched by the UAE government, aiming to focus on creating the most active and best economy in the world.
