The 68-year-old president has suffered from various ailments in recent years. In 2013, the president suffered an acute myocardial infarction and had to undergo coronary surgery.
In addition, he has said in public that he suffers from hypertension, for which he must take medication.
In January 2021, López Obrador contracted Covid-19 without suffering from serious symptoms. In addition, on January 10 he announced that he tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time, for which he canceled his public activities for a week, resuming morning press conferences again on January 17.
After his recovery, he assured that he had suffered from mild symptoms on this last occasion. “I didn’t have fever, oxygenation was very good, above 90%, I didn’t have body discomfort, hoarseness and burning in the throat for two days; basically that. My treatment consisted of taking care of myself, isolating myself, drinking a lot of water,” said the Mexican head of state.
