The BR-262 highway that connects Miranda to Corumbá was invaded by smoke; the rain this Thursday (8th August) eases the flames
An excerpt from BR-262, which connects Miranda to Corumbá, in Mato Grosso do Sul, was closed on Tuesday (6.Aug.2024) due to fire on the sides of the highway. According to the Fire Departmentsmoke invaded the track, preventing vehicle traffic in the area.
Images circulating on social media show smoke on the road and the damage caused to vegetation in the area.

There were records of 6 other large-scale fires in the regions of Nhecolândia, Abobral, Albuquerque and the border with Bolivia.
Firefighters are working to combat the fire in the Pantanal together with the National Force, PrevFogo firefighters and the Armed Forces.
A 20 mm rain fell on the region in the early hours of this Thursday (8th August) helped to alleviate the temperatures and stop the flames in some areas, according to the Government of Mato Grosso do Sul.
