Weather becomes more unstable towards the weekend, the Meteorological Institute tells STT. During Friday morning, a low pressure will arrive on the west coast of the country, bringing rain showers with it.
Isolated rain showers can also occur in other parts of the country. Thunder may rumble in the west in connection with rain showers, says the meteorologist on duty.
A second, stronger weather front of persistent rain will arrive overnight between Friday and Saturday, which is expected to sweep across the southern and central parts of the country on Saturday. On Saturday, the wind can be gusty and strong in places. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued a thunderstorm warning for Saturday.
Low pressure will continue to affect the entire country on Sunday. The area of continuous rain will move to the Southern Lapland region on Sunday.
On Friday, the temperature will remain around 20–25 degrees, but the weather will cool down during the weekend as a result of rain. In rainy areas, the temperature drops to around 15–20 degrees. In Lapland, before the rain, it is still possible to reach warm weather.
