United States|Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he had agreed on up to three election debates with different news channels.
Republicans presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump finally agreed on Thursday to an election debate with his opponent on ABC News on September 10.
At his press conference at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida, Trump said that he had agreed with three channels on the times of the presidential debates. According to Trump, in addition to ABC, the channels are Fox News and NBC.
The debates are scheduled for September 4, 10 and 25.
Trump and the Democratic vice-presidential candidate Horrible Harris campaign teams debated at length whether the debate would be aired at all on ABC News, to which Trump and the president Joe Biden the teams had pledged before Biden dropped out of the presidential race.
At first, Trump did not agree to the already agreed election debate, citing that the situation regarding that also changed when Biden dropped out. Trump has also said he is waging a legal battle against ABC Network, which would create a conflict of interest for the debate.
Harris, on the other hand, has always stuck to the agreed election debate on September 10.
Now, when Trump announced that he would agree to a scheduled debate, Harris responded to the news succinctly on X.
“I heard that Donald Trump has finally agreed to debate with me on September 10. Looking forward to it,” the update reads.
However, in his message, Harris did not comment on other election debate points presented by Trump. His team has previously been told that they are open to discussing other dates of the election debates, as long as the already agreed-upon one, i.e. the ABC News debate, is held.
