Stellantis does not fear competition from Chinese car manufacturers in the European electric car market. Carlos says TavaresCEO of the Italian-French group, who during the presentation of the new production line of electric vehicles Stellantis in Serbia, where the new Fiat Grande Panda will be born, explained how the company is absolutely ready to fight for a prominent place in the sector.
Tavares challenges China
“We will be challenged, and I would also say brutallyfrom the Chinese offensive on the European market. But in Stellantis we are ready to fight – his words reported by Reuters – We will demonstrate to our rivals that we are working hard, that we have the right technology and that we are a very fierce competitor.” From this point of view Serbia can play a important role: Let us recall that the Balkan country signed a 190 million euro agreement with Stellantis in 2022 for the production of an electric vehicle at the Kragujevac automotive plant.
Stellantis sets sights on Serbia
“This is a great opportunity for us. We are the only country in the Western Balkans region that has the production of electric cars”, explained Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the presentation ceremony of the new production line. Only a few days ago, the Serbian mayor himself had opened up to potential agreements lithium supply with European manufacturers with the idea of warding off the Chinese threat. In this sense, an annual lithium production of 58,000 tons is expected, enough for about 1.1 million electric vehicles, or about 17% of the European market.
