President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva indicated this Tuesday, 18th, that nothing has been ruled out by the government in relation to the adjustment of public accounts, but argued that the economic team needs to present the need for spending cuts.
In an interview with CBN Radio, Lula stated that the country’s problem is the fact that the “rich” take over the Union’s budget with tax exemptions and exemptions, saying that there are exemptions made without compensation for the world of work.

When asked about possible spending cuts, Lula asked for caution, mentioned tax benefits for agribusiness and criticized the idea of adjustments burdening the poorest.
‘Campos Neto works to harm’ Brazil’
The president also attacked the president of the Central Bank again, accusing Roberto Campos Neto of working “to harm the country”. According to Lula, the country cannot have a prohibitive interest rate for productive investments.
This Wednesday, the 18th, the BC Monetary Policy Committee (Copom) will announce its next decision on the Selic rate, with broad market expectations of maintaining interest rates at the level of 10.50% per year, ending a cycle of seven consecutive cuts.
