Korean scholar Asmolov: Russia will violate its obligations if it attracts migrants from the DPRK
Russia will violate the sanctions regime imposed against North Korea if it begins to attract labor migrants from there. This was reported by Konstantin Asmolov, leading researcher at the Center for Korean Studies at the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, transmits “Tsargrad”.
“Western forces, accusing Russia of violating the sanctions regime, constantly talk about the fact that North Korean workers are already here and doing something. But so far this is poorly supported by evidence. Because they are trying to pass off students who come to Russian universities as North Korean workers,” the specialist commented on this topic.
According to Asmolov, they hope to convict Moscow of violating obligations established by the UN Security Council. This is being done in order to lower Russia’s status in the organization and deprive it of its veto power, the expert noted. He added that if the country does start openly using North Korean workers, it would be a violation of international sanctions. Asmolov expressed confidence that such a decision would seriously change the usual world order.
Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un completed six-hour negotiations at the Vostochny cosmodrome. Their meeting lasted about six hours.
