According to a report, nominations for the state-owned company would be going through João Vaccari Neto, arrested by Lava Jato from 2015 to 2019
The former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) used your profile on X (former Twitter), this Sunday (June 16, 2024), to mock the alleged involvement of the former PT treasurer, João Vaccari Neto, in Petrobras.
In the post, the former head of the Executive shared a print of a note by journalist Lauro Jardim, also published this Sunday (June 16) by the newspaper The globe. The text states that “all important appointments made today at Petrobras have been vetted” by Vaccari.
“Love returned without any shame of being happy”, wrote the former president in the publication.
Vaccari Neto responded to 5 Lava Jato cases and was imprisoned from 2015 to 2019. In 1 of them, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison for allegedly receiving bribes, in 2010, from the Keppel Fels group, a company that had contracts with Petrobras and was also investigated by the task force.
However, the former PT treasurer had his conviction annulled by minister Edson Fachin, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), in December 2023. Fachin understood that the 13th Federal Court in Curitiba, headed by the then judge and current senator Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) and which condemned Vaccari, does not have the competence to judge the case. According to the decision, the accusations must be processed in the Electoral Court of the Federal District.
