In the city crowded with fans, in view of the Poland-Holland match, the police German shot a man armed with an ax and a Molotov cocktail near the Reeperbahn. This was reported by the Dpa agency, which previously wrote about the man armed with a pickaxe and Molotov cocktail. Before the events, tens of thousands of Dutch fans had marched through the streets of the district of St. Pauli, where the Reeperbahn is located. Initial indications suggest that “there is no connection with football”, the German police spokesman said.
According to the reconstruction of the police, the man came out of a pub along a road adjacent to the Reeperbahn with the ax in his hand, ‘exhibited‘ in “threatening way” to the officers who asked him to put it on the ground. When he refused, the spokesperson added, they hit him in the leg.
